Escape the ordinary with our 4-day private desert expedition to the untamed dunes of Erg Chigaga. This extended journey is crafted for travelers who want to savor every moment—from the snow-capped peaks of the High Atlas to the ancient caravan trails of the south. With an extra day at your disposal, you’ll dive deeper into the nomadic lifestyle, explore hidden Kasbahs, and experience the silence of the Sahara far beyond the reach of standard tourist crowds.

We leave the red city behind, climbing the Tizi-n-Tichka pass. After exploring the world-famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, we settle in Ouarzazate—the "Gate of the Desert"—giving you time to visit the cinema studios or the historic Kasbah Taourirt.

Today’s route follows the meandering Draa River. We pass through Agdz and Zagora, stopping to explore ancient libraries and pottery workshops in Tamegroute. We reach the village of M’hamid, where the road ends and the real desert begins.

The adventure intensifies as we head off-road in our 4x4s. We traverse the vast "Hamada" (stone desert) to reach the towering golden dunes of Erg Chigaga. Spend your afternoon camel trekking, sandboarding, or simply soaking in the absolute silence. Night falls with a nomadic feast under a blanket of billions of stars.

After a majestic desert sunrise, we depart via the "Old Paris-Dakar" route, crossing the flat expanse of Lake Iriqui. We stop in the carpet-weaving town of Taznakht before heading back across the Atlas Mountains, arriving in Marrakech by early evening.

The 4-day itinerary allows for a much more relaxed pace. Instead of long hours in the car, you get more time to explore the Kasbahs, walk through the Draa Valley oases, and truly connect with the local Berber culture. It’s the perfect choice for those who want a deep immersion rather than a quick visit.

On the third day, we leave the asphalt roads for about 2 to 3 hours of 4x4 off-roading to reach the deep dunes of Erg Chigaga. This is a highlight of the trip! Our drivers are experts in desert navigation, making the "piste" adventure both thrilling and safe.

Yes. While Merzouga (Erg Chebbi) has higher, more compact dunes, Erg Chigaga is much more expansive and wild. It feels like a "sea of sand." The biggest advantage of Chigaga is the solitude—you won’t see hundreds of other tourists, giving you a private and authentic Saharan experience.

Absolutely. Since we stay overnight in Ouarzazate on the first day, you have plenty of time to visit the Atlas Film Studios (the largest in the world) or the Cinema Museum. Just let your guide know so he can coordinate the timing.

We use a Luxury Desert Camp. This means you don't "rough it." You will have a spacious private tent with a comfortable bed, high-quality linens, and a private en-suite bathroom with a hot shower. It’s the perfect way to enjoy the wilderness with the comforts of a hotel.

Yes, we stop in Tamegroute on the second day. You’ll have the chance to visit the ancient Koranic library with its thousand-year-old manuscripts, as well as the famous green pottery workshops.
