If you seek a serene escape far from the beaten path, our 3-day private tour to Erg Chigaga is designed for you. Unlike other desert destinations, Chigaga offers a raw, pristine experience amidst the largest and wildest dunes in Morocco. From the heights of the High Atlas to the infinite silence of the « off-road » Sahara, this journey is a captivating return to nature and nomadic traditions.

We depart Marrakech, crossing the Tizi-n-Tichka pass with its breathtaking mountain vistas. After exploring the cinematic history of Ait Ben Haddou, we head South toward the Draa Valley. You will spend your first night in Agdz, a peaceful oasis town where the date palms meet the towering Jbel Kissane.

After a morning walk in the oasis, we visit the ancient library and pottery workshops of Tamegroute. The road ends at M’hamid, where our 4x4 off-road adventure begins. We traverse the rocky desert (Reg) to reach the towering golden dunes of Erg Chigaga. Enjoy a sunset camel ride before a feast of traditional cuisine and nomad music around the campfire.

Wake up to the pure silence of the deep desert for sunrise. Our return journey takes us across the dried-up bed of Lake Iriqui, a surreal landscape featured in many films. We stop in Taznakht, the capital of Berber carpets, before crossing the Atlas Mountains back to Marrakech, arriving by late evening.

Erg Chigaga is the "Wild Sahara." It is more remote, less crowded, and requires a 4x4 off-road drive to reach. While Merzouga has higher dunes, Chigaga offers a more authentic, "off-the-beaten-path" experience for those looking to escape the tourist crowds and see the desert in its rawest form.

The journey involves some off-road driving (piste) through the rugged desert. However, our private 4x4 vehicles are specifically designed for this terrain, and our expert nomad drivers are masters of these trails, ensuring your journey is both thrilling and safe.

In the heart of Erg Chigaga, you are truly disconnected. Our luxury camp provides electricity in the tents for charging your devices, but there is no Wi-Fi and very limited mobile signal. This is the perfect opportunity to enjoy the ultimate silence and the clearest starlit skies in Morocco.

Yes, definitely! We stop in Tamegroute on the second day. You can visit the ancient underground library and watch the local artisans create the world-famous emerald-green pottery using traditional techniques that have remained unchanged for centuries.

Lake Iriqui is a vast, dried-up salt lake located between the dunes and the mountains. On our return journey (Day 3), we drive across this surreal, flat landscape. It’s a spectacular place for photos and offers a completely different desert scenery.

Loose, breathable clothing is best for the day. However, because Chigaga is deeper in the desert, temperatures can drop significantly at night, even in summer. We recommend bringing a warm jacket or fleece for the evening campfire.
