Embark on a definitive Saharan adventure with our 8-day trek from the Draa Valley to M’hamid. This is not just a tour; it is a deep-dive expedition into the heart of the Moroccan desert. Over eight days, you will transition from the vibrant energy of Marrakech to the absolute silence of the Erg Chegaga dunes. Accompanied by our expert nomad team and a camel caravan, you will cross dramatic mountain passes, hidden oases, and vast sand seas. This trek is for the dreamer, the explorer, and anyone looking to experience the Sahara in its purest, most untouched form.

Welcome to Morocco! Upon arrival at the airport, our Marrakech private tour guide will transfer you to your Riad in the heart of the Medina. Spend the afternoon exploring the Koutoubia Mosque, the Majorelle Garden, or the lively Jemaa el-Fna square.

  • Overnight: Traditional Riad in Marrakech.

We leave Marrakech behind and cross the High Atlas Mountains. After passing through Ouarzazate and the lush Draa Valley, we reach Faija, a plateau near Zagora where our camel team awaits.

  • Overnight: First night under canvas in the desert plateau.

The trek begins. We climb the Jbel Bani mountains, offering a panoramic view of the vast Saharan plains ahead. We descend into a hidden valley to set up our camp near a seasonal water source.

A day to remember! We trek across a desert "Reg" (stony plain) until the horizon begins to undulate with sand. We reach the towering Erg Chegaga dunes in time for a spectacular sunset.

Moving east, we trek toward the secluded dunes of Bougarne. These dunes are less visited and offer a deep sense of peace. The landscape here is a beautiful mix of golden sand and hardy desert vegetation.

Today we follow the tracks of gazelles and nomads toward Oued Naam (the Valley of Ostriches). This area is famous for its desert acacia trees and wide-open landscapes.

Our final morning of trekking takes us to the village of M’hamid, the end of the road. Here, our 4x4 vehicle meets us for the drive back to Marrakech, arriving late in the evening.

  • Overnight: Traditional Riad in Marrakech.

After breakfast, enjoy some last-minute shopping in the souks before our driver transfers you to the airport for your flight home.

This is a moderate to challenging trek. While you don't need to be an athlete, you should be comfortable walking 5–6 hours a day on mixed terrain (sand, gravel, and mountain passes).

Focus on endurance! We recommend breaking in your hiking boots at least a month before arrival. Pack layers (for hot days and cold desert nights) and high-quality sun protection.

From October to April, days are sunny and pleasant ($20^{\circ}C$ to $25^{\circ}C$), but night temperatures can drop significantly ($0^{\circ}C$ to $5^{\circ}C$). In May and September, it is much warmer.

On average, we walk between 5 and 7 hours a day, divided into a long morning session and a shorter afternoon walk after a long lunch break in the shade.

Not at all! The camels are primarily for carrying equipment. However, if you feel tired, you can ride your designated camel. Our handlers will guide you every step of the way.

This is a "Wild Camping" experience. We provide "Bivouac" tents that are wind-resistant and comfortable. In Marrakech, you will stay in a traditional luxury Riad.
